Mae Magouirk WTF
I won’t ever quit arguing against the creeping culture of death and creepy medical “ethicists,” but I think I’m probably going to have to say nothing more for now about the Mae Magouirk story (link to Wizbang). It’s basically turned into a big
W T F
Here’s what I think, after pondering this for a bit:
First, check out this theory (JUST a theory and there are a bunch of holes in it, but it could be close to the truth) - a comment from “TomT” at the Commissar’s.
I think it goes like this: a) the granddaughter is basically an asshole control freak who declared “I’m in charge here”, b) she’s an idiot who isn’t competent herself enough to make decisions properly or even morally, c) Ken Mullinax says WTF, no way is she letting Granny die without heart treatment, and d) he lets the story propagate that Mae has had a feeding tube removed because he’s savvy enough to know it will get attention and rally the already-assembled Terri army.
Obviously, it’s more likely that I’m wrong than not, but I’m saying I think it’s probably close to something like that.
All I can say is, I wish her a swift recovery. Period.

Good post. I didn’t rush in on this one - right from the start the info didn’t add up. Apparently the judge is pro-life, disagreed with killing Terri Schiavo, and has stated that Mae never even had a feeding tube and was receiving food and liquids. Some people need to slow down huh?

I guess I was gun shy after all the insanity at the end of Terri’s life (on the pro-death and pro-life sides) but I just couldn’t bring myself to blog about this case. Maybe I just didn’t think I had enough details to state a public opinion. (an unusual display of caution on my part)
I do hope Mae has a speedy recovery and manages to work out some legal issues before she’s put in this postion again.

We have all been following the Terri Schiavo case very closely in recent months, but Raven points out in a recent post that euthanasia has been occurring regularly in this country - multiple cases have also been logged that allow
