TERRI SCHIAVO updates
OK, the graveyard-shift blogging caught up with me today. Despite my plans for otherwise, my body refused to cooperate since sleep was becoming imperative (I actually had to sort of fake illness to get away with staying in bed all day and have cooperation from a certain extremely well-behaved six year-old, who knew I needed rest).
So, here goes…
Those following Terri Schiavo’s case know by now that Congress has reached a bipartisan, bicameral agreement, and work continues to reach final approval so the bill can be sent to the President for his signature as early as Sunday.
The Political Teen has numerous videos up from the Congressional meetings, the press conference, and other related items. [THANK YOU, Ian!]
The Powers That Blog has a list of talking points to remember when contacting members of Congress, which she has cross-posted at Blogs for Terri.
See BlogsForTerri for further information regarding all of these and MORE.
Megan, an “ardent liberal” who feels as strongly about Terri’s cause as any of us, has come up with what I think is a BRILLIANT idea–sending boxes of water and food (maybe Jello?–just my thought) to Woodside Hospice. It’s an EXCELLENT way to take a “symbolic stand” for Terri, for those of us who can’t be there to show our support for her!
QUESTION: Does anyone know if this is being done elsewhere? If not, are you interested in doing this?

sad: Yes, one of our local group members whom I haven’t met personally yet, emailed the group that her mother is in overwhelming pain, loss, guilt, and anger since this August, when a hospice killed her stepfather by letting his living will trump their power of attorney; and, further, made it apply to food and water, when the patient and her Mom both thought it only meant hook-up to machines. The father died while the Mother frantically tried to move him or find help. I would love to see this go further, before it gets more out of control.

Symbolic Stand for Terri
Beth of My VRWC posted a great idea. As a symbolic stand for Terri we should all send boxes of food and water to Woodside Hospice where Terri is being starved to die.

Terri Shiavo’s Death Sentence
I have delayed weighing in on the Terri Shiavo case. I wanted to see how things played out and I honestly figured that her life would be spared. It might still be, but activist judges are making it difficult for Terri to remain alive. The whole case…

i believe what our justice system is allowing to be down to her is cruel and inhumane.i also believe that her so called husband has his own reasons for doing what he is doing to her. how would he like to be stuck in a bed without food or water and not be able to say anything about it.GOD BLESS HER MOTHER AND FATHER WHO I DOING ALL THAT THEY CAN
