First, from Fox News TV–BREAKING NEWS–a Florida judge has just minutes ago REINSTATED REMOVAL of Terri’s feeding tube!

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (AP) - The presiding judge in the case of Terri Schiavo ruled Friday that the feeding tube keeping the brain-damaged woman alive can be removed despite efforts by congressional Republicans to block the move by seeking her appearance at hearings.
Pinellas Circuit Judge George Greer refused a request from U.S. House attorneys to delay the removal, which he had previously ordered to take place at 1 p.m. EST. Greer determined that it should go forward about an hour after another judge issued a temporary delay blocking the tube’s removal.
There was no immediate word on when the tube might be removed.

Last night I was reading Ace of Spades‘ excellent post up about Terri Schiavo. Reading through the comments, I found a liberal who is as distraught about Terri’s situation as any of her supporters. She as well as many others have wisely noted that it’s a shame this issue has become so ideologically polarized, because it really shouldn’t be a political issue. It’s a moral issue, and politics shouldn’t have a thing to do with it, but it’s ended up that way because of who has been supporting Terri all along–primarily the conservative Right to Life movement. Reactionaries (but NOT everyone) from the opposite side have basically seen this as a right-wing cause and opposed it. Nevertheless, as I said, NOT ALL have.
This liberal blogger, Lesbiencestmoi, posted a thoughtful piece about Terri, Liberals Don’t Support Their Cause By Supporting Murder.
PLEASE go welcome her to the battle for Terri and help get the word out to the Left. (Not many liberals read my blog, after all–and I’m sure they don’t frequent Ace’s much either.)

Where is the judicial activist judge when he/she is needed by the conservatives? Yet this is ostensibly a liberal cause (as well).
By the way, where are the liberals? Wouldn’t one expect them to be defending the right to life? Where is Hollywood, other than Mel Gibson? Gee, isn’t his speaking out surprising? But then he’s probably spoken of in some Hollywood circles as Hollywood’s conservative Jesus-freak so one would expect a Jesus-freak to defend life, but certainly not a liberal? Where is Hollywood to speak out against this obscene bludgeoning of a defenseless woman? Doesn’t this fall into the liberals’ “thou shalt not do” category? Doesn’t this fall into their “there must be screams of protest category”?
Where is NOW defending this probably abused woman’s right to life? Where is NOW defending this woman who’s disability is possibly even the result of an instance of physical abuse?
Where is the judicial activist judge, ready to make new law (as some critics say) who will leap knee jerk to the side of the liberals (or is this judge needed now to jump to the side of the conservatives? Or to the sides of both? I am confused.) and find the loophole that will let the courts intervene/meddle on the side of Terri’s right to live?
Why are the liberals silent? Is this such tricky water that defending Terri Schiavo’s right to life will commit them to the position that unborn babies have the same right to life? Are the liberal positions regarding abortion so intellectually weak that liberals can’t risk defending an adult, full-fledged citizen, Terri Schiavo’s right to life? Where is the brainpower touted as the defining characteristic of a liberal? Where is the courage of the liberal white voting rights workers who ventured into the dangerous and deadly South in the 60s to defend the right of blacks to vote?
Oh where oh where is liberal courage today? Oh where oh where can it be?
Be brave, liberal. Venture into dangerous country. Be brave. Subject yourselves to the frightful possibility that your pro-abortion arguments will have to be strengthened if you should dare to defend the right of a functioning, adult human being to live?
Or you can be silent while only those of the “religious right” speak out. You can be silent and embarrass yourselves. Don’t you feel like a child who has just wet her/his pants?
Go ahead, let her die without you championing her cause because you are too afraid of undermining the important political positions you hold whose relationship to the position required for the defense of Terri’s right to life is unfortunately, for Terri, at least, disturbingly and dangerously close? Will you be able to sleep if you don’t take a stand? Will you be able to sleep well if you do take a stand?
Be the progressives you claim to be. Continue stretching your brain power to meet the challenges that won’t go away by pretending. You started out decades ago with the right stuff (yes, I know it’s a conservative moniker; I do apologize using this to describe you). Don’t drop the ball now simply because the intellectual going has gotten tougher. On the other hand, oh go wet your pants!

Federal Marshals and troops have been used before several times in these circumstances. We have three branches of gov’t for a reason. It is not only allowed for under the Constitution, it is expected. Checks and Balances, and all that. The Judiciary is just one part of the equation.
Ladies. Michael Schiavo and Claus von Bulow really know what a woman wants! Sometimes even better than they do.
Just ask them! I think both are now free(if not, they will be shortly!). Swooning yet? I’d add a guy named Ted to that list, but I don’t want to offend anyone. Mary Jo really did want to live full of wonder, twenty feet under, under the sea! Would I lie to you?
