Learning about Terri Schiavo
Chad Evans of In The Bullpen is one of my daily reads because of what he normally writes about–terrorism/Islamofascism, national security issues, and domestic and international politics. Now he’s written about Terri Schiavo, not the kind of topic he usually covers.
I’ve been very silent on the Terri Shiavo case other than just the occasional email correspondence with Richard. He has told me that I would be convinced it is worth joining in the fight to save Terri’s life or at least give her the chance to recover.
While I am not medically inclined, I have for years believed Terri was in an almost vegetative state and feel deeply for both her family and her husband Michael. My position all along has been that Michael should have the right to “pull the plug,” for lack of a better term, because he would know his wife better than her family. I also believe that Michael is the one who has the most need to move on with his life and I do not believe he can while Terri’s fate has yet to be determined.
Well, I’ve been reading various posts over at Hyscience regarding this issue for the past two weeks and seen some of the stuff Richard has not posted upon. I must admit that I’ve changed course. This latest post did it for me.

Dean Esmay wrote a short piece on Monday which expressed some skepticism about the Schindler (Terri’s family) side of the issue. Between then and Thursday, he had also come to the conclusion that Terri Schiavo should be given a chance to live. Why? Because he listened to both sides of the story. My question to YOU, reading this right now, have you followed the case of Terri Schiavo? Do you know ALL the facts–not just the sound bites from the news on TV or even the newspaper? If not, please, TODAY, learn about the story behind the sound bite. I am convinced that anyone who learns more about her will come to the same conclusion. I only hope that it’s not too late for Terri when you do.
