I read a very interesting viewpoint about Kennedy stumping for John Kerry during the election:
“Senator Edward Kennedy received a couple of slams in the last couple of weeks. First, William Saladan of Slate Magazine had criticized presidential candidate John Kerry’s allowing Kennedy to stump for him at various rallies. Saladan, noting Kerry’s Vietnam experiences, commented that Kennedy’s greatest accomplishment during Kerry’s Vietnam years was his being able to swim to shore at Chappaquiddick. Ouch! Then, at another event, Kennedy introduced a man who Sen. Kerry had saved from drowning in Vietnam. Obviously, the Kerry backers failed to recognize the blatant irony of such an act.” - Steven Maikoski, Congressional Thotline
